Neuschwanstein Castle

Today was spent in complete awe of Cinderella's inspired castle, the Neuschwanstein Castle. Long story short, the awesome 18 year old King Lugwid II inherited the throne of Bavaria after his father passed away, and had this castle built purely from his personal funds. It was to be his playground...except he died unexpectedly just months after the castle was finished. What a bummer. Now the castle is opened to over 6 million people a year, all whom make the long journey into the heart of Bavaria to just stand and gawk at the fantasmical architecture that is this castle. (I think I just made up the term Fantasmical.)

Driving from Salzberg was a blast as we meandered through numerous Bavarian villages nestled in the valley below the Bavarian alps. The peacefulness of driving through quiet, country side roads was disrupted when Stephanie yelled, "There! up in the mountain!" and sure enough, we could just make out the outline of one of the most beautiful castles in all the world.

The Alps were breathtaking
